"Above all, I capture life's joy."

I’m Monica Lau, a professional photographer living and working in the heart of Kailua, Hawaii.

Photography has been my way of celebrating the joy of life ever since I was a Communication Arts major in my hometown of Chicago. The 30 year career started when I was first published in the Chicago Tribune in 1987. I’ve been working ever since, specializing in commissioned portraiture, commercial and editorial photography.

After marrying and having a daughter, I realized the importance of portraits framed and on your wall. The investment is your Legacy. It was a new era of point-and-shoot low resolution digital cameras. I enjoyed making quick snapshots of my daughter but the images soon were stuck in storage devices that quickly became obsolete: from floppy disks to CDs to USB drives to the external hard drive, and outdated computers. Computers are no longer coming with CD drives or USB drives! What will happen to all those irreplaceable memories? Probably nothing. My boutique photography studio creates Legacy Portrait Artwork for your home.

I always hope to make a difference through photography during my decades of volunteering, donations and charitable work.
