Becoming older brings a surprising confidence and freedom to explore and discover who you are and gives you a wonderful opportunity to pursue things that you may have put off while caring for others or were simply hesitant to try.

I cherish being able to spend time with my mom going to the theater, symphony, and museums together. To relax, give me a pen (and a pencil with a good eraser!) and the puzzle section of the newspaper!

I pass on the parenting wisdom I was given years ago but did not take to heart - "Enjoy the season you are in." When you are an exhausted mother of young children, when your patience is tried raising teenagers, stop, breathe, and appreciate of all of the little things that you see...for one day, quite soon, you will long to change a diaper, console a crying child, drive your son or daughter to and from their activities. As someone once said "You will spend the majority of your life knowing your children as adults...but, for a brief moment, you get to know them as children..." Cherish every moment.
