What are your thoughts on aging? What are your thoughts on being your age?
Life is more precious these days, less wild, and the surprises that come with age seem like blessings. I'm more open to ideas. A care free feeling.
How is your age group relevant?
Being a baby boomer is the age we first become eligible for Medicare. It’s also a great time to consider the changes that will come to life affecting finances, health, and general physical well-being. There’s many perks to take advantage in this age group. At this age I have more fun and freedom. I have more to give to this world.
Younger women, might think that it's scary to get older. What wonderful things can women look forward to at your age?
I take time for the things I love.
Keep up with my hobbies.
Travel where and when I can! Last year and earlier this year, I traveled for business and pleasure to New York 2x, Florida 2x, and Asia (Hong Kong, Macau, and visited parts of the Philippines with my family).
I have expanded my education, and I am taking chances.
I’ve taken part in serving our community and volunteering in our local area, such as adopting various parts of our Island to save the environment, maintaining and restoring schools for our young generation, and helping the elderly.
I have also connected with new people.
I’m maintaining my well-being by making sure to exercise, meditate, have facial care massage therapy, going on morning walks, and eating balanced meals. I love to take advantage of my time by walking and being under a tree with a great book.
Share tips on how you celebrate yourself, what you do for fun, and self-care.
I celebrate myself by taking advantage of outdoor activities by having a nice, chilled drink in a park under a tree. Spending time in nature can be a refreshing way to celebrate.
Volunteering and giving back for a cause. I also love movie night. A movie marathon series (queen of tears).
I love game nights. I normally organize a game night with friends and colleagues. We play board games (rich dad, poor dad) and create a nice meal.
I love reflecting and setting goals.
What was your greatest challenge, and how did you overcome it?
My greatest challenge was fleeing my country at age 13 (1972) during Marshall Law. We left everything behind and flew to America. Learning a new language, meeting new people, and being able to adapt.
It wasn't easy at school. Many students were not friendly. They would pick on me and create fights.
I overcame my challenges by positive thinking, taking charge of the situation, and being my best friend. I also love affirmations. “I am an elegant, charismatic, alluring woman. I radiate confidence and grace. Attracting positive and empowering energy wherever I go. My smile is captivating, and my presence lights up a room. I am deserving of attention and admiration, and I welcome it with open arms.”
Share one experience or piece of advice that would lift other women up and empower them.
Be yourself, Be courageous, and do not give up. Challenges are strengths, it sharpens our character.
What would you tell your 14-year-old self?
Just do it. You'll get there. Keep it going and take the challenge!!
What is your definition of success?
Success to me is fulfillment. Contentment. Being able to provide support.
Who inspired you as a little girl? Who inspires you now?
Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana, and Queen Elizabeth inspired me during my younger age. They were private and elegant.
My mother inspires me now. She was a smart, courageous, elegant, and successful woman. She was powerful in my eyes.
What is the best advice you have been given?
Keep on learning and stand firm. Especially during challenging situations.
